We take very seriously the health and safety of all participants and as such we will have St John's Ambulance personnel in attendance. We would ask you to consider your own health and consult your GP if you have any concerns about participation. If you do have any concerns then please feel free to attend and cheer on all participants from the (relative) warmth of the shore and sign-on tent. It is hardly worth saying but in January the water is very cold so please stay in the water only as long as you feel comfortable doing so. You can dip in a swimming costume, a wetsuit or a fancy dress costume! From experience a hat really helps with heat loss so it is highly recommended that you wear one, Get out of the water, get into warm dry clothes, keep moving and have some warming soup or hot drinks and you will be toasty and warm in no time.
If on the day the weather is too severe to ensure the safety of all participants, the event will be cancelled.
